The Standing Process

Hey look at that thing over there!

Hey, look at me!

This is a much better angle.

Disgusting

I really love Jamie Oliver and I think it's great that he is really trying to change the way we eat and look at food. So when I saw this article I definitely wanted to hear what he had to say. I was so disturbed that I just had to share it with you. You can thank me later. Unfortunately I was eating lunch when I saw this, so I'll just let that be a warning to you. I'm actually pretty anti fast food and junky frozen food to begin with, but this just about put me over the edge. Especially after having a child, I realize how important it is to pay attention to what we put in our bodies. The more healthily we eat, the more likely we are to pass that on to our children. It makes me want to live on a farm and grow and eat all of my own food. Plus I would love to have a cow, but that's a whole other obsession :-)

Baby Gymnastics

The baby has discovered a new favorite trick. As soon as I lay him on the changing table he immediately flips over onto his belly. I then roll him back and he flips back over. This is somewhat cute and amusing until you try to change a poopy diaper. This happened to me last week. At one point I was holding him by one foot up in the air and trying to wipe his flailing, poop covered booty with the other hand. Sorry, no pictures for this post. I finally just started laughing, because really, what else can you do? One of the many glamorous moments of parenting :-)

Father's Day

We had a great Father's Day! Of course I had all of these very grandiose plans for breakfast in bed, but when we woke up at 6:00 to get ready to head up to Pinecrest for the day, I was a little less motivated...sorry honey! After feeding and changing the munchkin and getting all the 5,000 things a baby needs anytime we leave the house, it was only 2.5 hours later. Pretty impressive right?

The drive is actually not bad at all, between 1.5 and 2 hours. The location is absolutely gorgeous. The drive to Pinecrest takes you up through the sequoias and it's absolutely breathtaking.

We met the group at their campsite and hung out for awhile as they cooked breakfast.

Cory cooking breakfast for the gang.

Why weren't we camping you ask? Because my wonderful husband is a very smart man. In the weeks leading up to the camping trip (a Mothers Club sponsored event) I kept telling Jason that I could definitely handle camping with the group. No problem, I said. He insisted that he was not taking me and the baby camping when we had never seen the camp site. He would feel much better if I had seen the camp-site and new what to expect. I cannot thank him enough. When we got there, all anyone could talk about was how cold it had been the night before. I have no idea what we would have done with baby. Probably slept in the car with the heater running! Not to mention the state of the bathrooms. If you can even call them that. It was literally a hole in the ground with a seat on top. I admit it - I'm a complete and total wuss. I have no tolerance for holes in the ground. There, I said it.

After a while we headed down to the lake to spend an hour on the party boat that the group had reserved. It was still a little chilly, but such a gorgeous day. The lake is rather small, but absolutely gorgeous! There is no skiing on the lake, so it was wonderfully quiet and relaxing.

I want to be back there!

Walking the marina while we waited for the boat to be docked.

Duder's first boat ride!

I swear he's in there somewhere.

Jason was our designated captain for the day.
I didn't know that it was possible to love this much. I am literally bursting with love for these two.

Mr. Elijah driving the boat

After Elijah got a chance to drive the boat, everyone wanted a turn! There was literally a line of kids waiting to sit on Jason's lap and drive the boat. It was absolutely adorable!
Little Becca driving
Miss Ava driving the boat. How gorgeous is this girl!!

The gang

After we took a couple spins around the lake, we headed back over the beach. It was so much fun watching the kids play in the sand and splash around in the (freezing) water. I can't wait to see our little man joining in.

The Dude looks a little shell-shocked :-)

He is seriously the happiest baby I know!

I also wish you could see his shirt, because it's a picture of Darth Vader and it says "My Dad is Awesome" I mean, how perfect is that?

Sarah and I on the beach.

Just hanging out
Seriously though, how cute are these two???? How did I get so lucky!

Dada, how many times do I need to tell you - No kisses in public!
Goofy Dada

It was such a wonderful day and I can't wait to go back (when it's warmer and we have a campsite with a flushing toilet). I'm so glad that Jason enjoyed himself on his first Father's Day. Elijah is so lucky to have such a wonderful Dada who loves him so much. I feel so incredibly blessed to have him in my life as well :-)

Everything is Amazing

Having a child is quite possibly the most magical experience on Earth. Not only do you get to watch the little being learn and grow and discover, but you get to discover right along with him. Everything is new and fascinating and special. Everything is new again. It constantly makes us wonder what we did before Elijah came into our lives. We must have been very bored :)

We're Sitting!

Our big boy is sitting on his own now! So very, very exciting to see our little man growing!

Update - so I must say that I started this post on Saturday, but have been desperately trying to get Blogger to upload the original video I took of him sitting on his own. No amount of begging, pleading, cursing, etc would sway it though. It stubbornly stood it's ground and refused to post my video. Fine Blogger, have it your way. In the meantime, I got an even better video of baby E sitting, trying to stand and crawl all over the place. So there.

We do not like bananas

We were DYING while we were feeding him these!! I kept thinking that he would start liking them, but apparently like mother like son. I felt bad, because he obviously did not like the bananas, but these faces were too adorable!! And for those of you that know my feelings about bananas, you know that I am certainly not heartbroken that he is not into that naners ;-)

First Fever

Poor little pumpkin had his first fever last week. When he woke up in the morning I thought that he felt warm, but his temperature was normal when I took it, so I chalked it up to being a paranoid mama. From now on I am trusting my instincts! I got a call from our daycare lady at about 1:30 that Elijah had a fever of just over 101 degrees. You can imagine how quickly I raced back to Mountain House! All I wanted to do was snuggle my little man. Of course when I picked him up, he was in his normal joyful mood. This kid is incredible. Nothing gets him down!!! I brought him home and Jason and I spent the rest of the evening cuddling him and putting cool cloths on his head. We know he wasn't feeling well when he let us do that!
Luckily the fever only lasted about 36 hours and the reassurance from the doctor that everything was fine, especially since he had no other symptoms was definitely a plus. I'm hoping that these occurrences are few and far between!

SATC2

After much waiting and anticipation Sex and the City 2 finally came out!! My bff Sarah and I had been waiting for sooooo long for it to come out. Besides that, a girl's/mama's night out was definitely in order. I met Sarah at her parents' house where I got to spend some time with her gorgeous girl Zoe. Always such a pleasure to see this girl. She is literally a mini-Sarah.

We then headed over to have some dinner at a restaurant by the theater. It was all decked out in pink and silver balloons and streamers and all of the staff had Sex and the City themed t-shirts on. It definitely got us even more excited to see the movie! We had a great dinner with Cosmos (of course!).
A little belated birthday cupcake for my dear bestie.

The movie itself was HILARIOUS! I don't care what the critics say, it was soooo much fun! Now we just need them to make a third one!

The next morning Elijah and I were lucky enough to be able to see Sarah and Zoe for breakfast. We headed to downtown Pleasanton to one of our favorite spots, The Rising Loafer. Although the service that was day was extremely slow, we still had a very nice time together. Loved watching those two munchkins together!

Cousins

About a week ago, we went over to visit with Brandon, Sara and Savannah. It had been awhile since we'd gotten together, so it was nice to be able to spend some time together. After dinner we got to watch the kids play. Savannah is so cute with Elijah. She's very interested in what he's doing and so gentle with him. It's such a joy to watch them together and makes me very excited for the years ahead as they grow together - soon to be joined by BJ and Sara's second daughter :-)

Nanner you are so funny!

I really am funny!

Elijah got to play in Savannah's jungle tunnel

What is this place?
This face cracks me up! It's like he got caught doing something he wasn't supposed to :-)

I'm coming to get you Mama!

Peekaboo

So sweet together
