Scary part II

So on Friday we ended up going into the hospital because the little man was not moving around.  It was very scary, but luckily once they hooked me up to all the monitors they could see his little heartbeat going crazy (in a good way).  Apparently he was just having a lazy day, or just thought it was funny to scare mommy half to death.  Why do I feel like we are in for quite an adventure?

Four years

So we have officially made it four years!  Time flies when you're having fun :-)  We had a great anniversary on Thursday.  We did lots of romantic things like go to Home Depot, spread mulch in the backyard and prune the rose bushes :-)  It actually was a wonderful day spent together and finished it with an amazing dinner at Patrick David's in Danville.  I would highly reccommend it if you're ever in the area...especially the desserts!  We both feel so blessed to have eachother and to have had these last four years together and many more to come!

Childbirth Prep Class

So on Saturday we took our Childbirth Prep Class.  It was about 50% information I had already read and 50% new, so all in all we felt like it was a good thing for us to take.  Although ending on a discussion of C-sections was not the best way to close the class in my opinion.  As we were walking back to the car Jason had to ask me several times if I was ok ;-)

Scary

Usually when we get home and open the door to the house we are greeted by two very eager to say hello doggies.  If one of those doggies (i.e. Elle) doesn't run up to us immediately, that's usually a good sign that she's gotten into something that she wasn't supposed to.  So last night when we returned from our yoga class, this was just the case.  She and Parker both hung back a little, which prompted me to peek around the kitchen to try and figure out what kind of snack they had made for themselves.  Usually it's something not so bad, but to my horror, I peeked around the kitchen table and saw a pile of grape vines.  For those of you who are not dog people, grapes are HORRIBLE for dogs.  They, and raisins, can cause renal failure in dogs.  Somehow, Miss Elle had leveraged herself far enough onto the counter top, to tip over the basket of grapes so that they came spilling to the floor.  She knew that she had done something bad, as did Parker, because when I gasped, they both promptly ran into their crates and would not come out.  Needless to say, Jason and I were so worried about them that we couldn't even get mad.  We watched them through the night and so far, it seems like no damage was done internally, but mom and dad may have aged a few years in the process.  Perhaps it's just practice for the many near heart attacks that our little boy has in store for us......though hopefully he's a perfect angel like his mama ;-)

Maternity Classes

So we had our first maternity class on Tuesday.  It was the breastfeeding class.  I had so many people tell me what a helpful class this was that I was really excited to go.  I am so glad that we did.  Although I know it will still be incredibly overwhelming once he arrives, I at least feel like I have a basis of knowledge to work from now :-)  I was so grateful that Jason was there too so that he will also have some idea of what's in store ;-)  Next Saturday we have our Childbirth Prep class (all day) so that should be interesting as well.  I just hope it doesn't freak me out too much!!  :-)

Labor Day Weekend

For Labor Day Weekend this year we decided to go up to Carson City and celebrate Jason's mom's birthday.  BJ, Sara and Savannah were also up there, so it was a great weekend to spend together.  We got to go to the Reno Rib Cook-off, which is always fun, not only for the food, but the people watching too!  I didn't eat much BBQ, but I did get the most delicious caramel apple.  It was covered in caramel, white chocolate and cinnamon sugar.  It literally tasted like apple pie on a stick :-)  As always, the puppies loved me up there and being able to run around.  I think that Elle had her Uncle BJ out playing "Chuck-It" with her at least a couple times a day.  Not to mention the early morning sessions with mom and dad.  We also go to watch the lovely Savannah fall asleep right in the middle of eating her dinner.  No amount of talking, clapping or laughing was waking that girl up!!

Elephant Parade

I got a wonderful surprise the other day when I received a large gift bag containing the bumper and sheets from my Mother-in-law Judi.  As many of you know we are doing the nursery is elephants and Judi graciously offered to make the bedding for us!  She has already given us a diaper stacker and now we have the bumper and sheets.  They turned out beautifully!  I can't wait to have the crib all put together!!  We're just waiting for the replacement of the front section as it was scratched when we pulled it out of the box.  Everything is slowly but surely coming together!!
